The Enugu State Central Library Project

Enugu, Enugu State Nigeria

The Enugu State Central Library Project

Enugu State Central Library was established in 1958 by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in order to meet the demand for more public libraries in the country. It was once referred to as the best library in West Africa . Unfortunately, it has fallen into disrepair with dilapidated buildings and outdated books (Wikipedia) due to lack of investment and maintenance over the years. SSI is working with the library leadership to revitalize and update the children’s section of the library – refurbish the reading area and providing free age-appropriate books. It also plans to initiative academic activities, programs and craft sessions for the children
